What it is
Wrinkle-relaxing injections are used to temporarily relax the small muscles responsible for expression lines. The treatment requires a prescription and is ordered by a doctor after an individual assessment. By softening these movements, it smooths lines such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet.
The effect develops over a few days to two weeks and lasts a number of months before gradually wearing off. A conservative approach preserves natural expression, so the face looks refreshed rather than frozen.
What it can improve
- Frown lines between the brows
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Crow's feet around the eyes
- Other selected expression lines, assessed individually
It softens lines caused by movement, not lines or folds present at rest from volume loss or skin laxity, which need other treatments. It is temporary and does not improve skin surface quality.
Before the procedure

Your facial movements and the lines you wish to treat are assessed, and your medical history is reviewed, including any neuromuscular conditions. The treatment is avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
During the procedure

Small amounts of botulinum toxin are injected precisely into the targeted muscles with a fine needle. The treatment is quick and generally comfortable.
After the procedure

There is little downtime. Strenuous exercise, lying down flat, and rubbing the area are usually avoided for several hours. The effect develops gradually over the following days.
Results: what it can and cannot achieve
Softer expression lines and a refreshed appearance are achievable, developing over up to two weeks. The effect is temporary and wears off over months, lines at rest are not removed, and a conservative dose preserves natural expression. Results vary between people.
Possible risks and complications
Botulinum toxin is widely used and generally safe in trained hands, but it carries some risks. Possible risks include:
- Bruising, redness, or tenderness at injection points
- Temporary headache
- Temporary drooping of an eyelid or brow
- Asymmetry or an uneven result
- Temporary dry or watery eyes when treated near the eyes
Botulinum toxin is a prescription treatment used following assessment. It is avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding and in certain neuromuscular conditions. Effects are temporary and settle if an uneven result occurs.
Who it suits
Wrinkle-relaxing injections may suit people bothered by expression lines. They are especially suitable for those who:
- Have frown, forehead, or crow's feet lines from movement
- Want a refreshed look while keeping natural expression
- Are comfortable with repeating treatment a few times a year
- Are in good general health and not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have realistic expectations about a temporary, subtle result
It may not suit people whose lines are present at rest from volume loss or laxity, or those with certain neuromuscular conditions. Your clinician advises whether it is right for you.
Why Skulpturkliniken
Aesthetic medicine at Skulpturkliniken
Non-surgical treatments at Skulpturkliniken are carried out by a physician after an individual assessment, within a medical, surgeon-led clinic. That means careful assessment, a conservative approach, and the reassurance of expert support behind every treatment.
Natural, balanced results
The aim is a refreshed, natural result that enhances your features rather than changing them. Treatments are planned with restraint, because subtle and well-judged almost always looks better than overdone.
The reassurance of a surgeon-led clinic
Working within a medical, surgeon-led clinic means honest advice about what a non-surgical treatment can and cannot do, and when a different treatment, or none at all, would serve you better. Your safety and a natural result always come first.
