Longevity & Wellness
PRP therapy
Using growth factors from your own blood to support skin renewal and hair density.
Quick Facts
- Treatment time: 45–60 minutes including preparation
- Sessions: A course, then maintenance
- Anesthesia: Topical numbing
- Downtime: Mild redness or tenderness for a day or so
- Results visible: Gradually over weeks to months
- Maintenance: Top-ups every few months
- Minimum age: From 18 years
What it is
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy uses a small sample of your own blood, spun to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, which is then applied to or injected into the treatment area. In a longevity and wellness context it is used to support skin renewal and, on the scalp, to support hair density in people with thinning hair.
Because it uses your own blood, it is well tolerated. Results build gradually over a course of sessions, and for hair it works best on early thinning rather than long-established baldness. It supports rather than guarantees improvement, and a course with maintenance is usual.
What it can support
- Skin quality, texture, and radiance
- Hair density in early or moderate thinning
- The scalp environment as part of a hair program
- Natural renewal using your own growth factors
It does not restore hair where follicles are no longer active, does not add volume or lift skin, and results are gradual and variable. It is not a guaranteed cure for hair loss.
Before the procedure

Your skin or scalp and goals are assessed and your medical history reviewed, including any blood conditions. The recommended course is explained, and realistic expectations are set, particularly for hair.
During the procedure

A small blood sample is taken and spun to concentrate the platelets. The concentrate is applied with microneedling or injected into the skin or scalp to support renewal.
After the procedure

Mild redness or tenderness settles within a day or so. Gentle aftercare is advised, and improvement builds over the following weeks to months. A course followed by maintenance gives the best chance of benefit.
Results: what it can and cannot achieve
Gradual support for skin quality or hair density is achievable in suitable people. PRP cannot revive inactive follicles, cannot guarantee hair regrowth, and results vary, so it is offered honestly as a supportive treatment with maintenance.
Possible risks and complications
PRP is generally well tolerated since it uses your own blood, but it carries some risks. Possible risks include:
- Redness, swelling, or tenderness
- Pinpoint bruising
- Infection, which is uncommon
- Variable or limited response, particularly for hair
- Temporary headache after scalp treatment
PRP is avoided over areas of active infection and in certain blood or medical conditions. Realistic expectations are important, as the response varies between individuals.
Who it suits
PRP therapy may suit people wanting to support skin quality or early hair thinning. It is especially suitable for those who:
- Want to support skin renewal or hair density
- Have early or moderate hair thinning with active follicles
- Prefer a treatment using their own blood
- Are in good general health
- Have realistic expectations about a gradual, variable result
It may not suit people with long-established baldness, certain blood conditions, or those wanting guaranteed results. Your clinician advises honestly on whether it will help.
