A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises and reshapes breasts that have sagged, repositioning the nipple and tightening the surrounding tissue and skin. Sagging develops with time, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight change as skin loses elasticity and the breast descends on the chest.
A lift restores a higher, firmer, more youthful position by removing excess skin and reshaping the breast tissue, rather than by adding volume. The nipple and areola are moved to a natural height, and the areola can be reduced if enlarged.
